EFYE Awards

Nominations are open for the inaugural EFYE Awards. Nominations close at 5pm (UK Time), Tuesday 6th June 2023.

The EFYE Awards were established to recognise and reward the work of those across Europe who are making exceptional contributions to the field of First Year Experience and other stages of student transition.

Submissions are encouraged from all colleagues (students, administrators, policy makers, researchers, teachers…) and submission categories are designed to support nominations across different stages of career; type of work; and physical or institutional locations.

Since 2006, the EFYE community has shared its innovations to radically improve the experiences of first year students and those in transition, and has provided leadership to those who shape these experiences. In establishing this Award series, the EFYE Committee is providing a formal opportunity to champion those who have made significant contributions to the First Year Experience agenda in Europe. We are delighted to recognise the first cohort at EFYE at Abertay University, and hope through the nominations, and in line with the conference theme, to discover more of the exceptional endeavours of colleagues impacting FYE practice, policy and research.

Will Carey, Chair of EFYE Committee

We would encourage colleagues to nominate others at their own institution, at another institution in your own country or elsewhere, and self-nominations are also encouraged.

Nominees are not required to attend the conference in person, but we would of course encourage you to attend if possible.

Nominations will be reviewed by a small group of FYE colleagues (and chaired by a member of the EFYE committee)

This year we are encouraging nominations in two categories and it is anticipated that one Award will be made in each category:

  • EFYE Leader / EFYE Champion
  • EFYE Rising Star

All nominees / nominators will receive recognition by letter and personalised feedback on the submission after the conference. Award winners will be invited to become EFYE Fellows to support and advocate for EFYE in their own settings, alongside a guaranteed session at EFYE 2024.
